JUNE 2020 UPDATE RESPONSE TO COVID-19
With the announcement of Governor Eric Holcomb’s plan for reopening Indiana, The Landing Place falls under the Stage 3 reopening plan: Social gatherings of up to 100 people with social distancing and precautions in place. We reopened on June 3rd. We are requiring that each student and Leader that attends wears a mask or they will be denied entrance. We will have a station set up at the entrance checking each student in and taking their temperature, it must be below 99.6 degrees, we will be supplying hand sanitizer as well. We will be enforcing the 6 feet social distancing guidelines for everyone’s safety during large and small groups. We will serve the students the food, eliminating buffet help yourself style. The Bridge will open Tuesday, June 30th with the same guidelines in place. We have missed our programs and the participants immensely and are excited about being able to reopen.
One of our Recovery Coach Leaders, Patti Tacket, is holding ZOOM recovery meetings for The Bridge on Tuesdays. Anyone can contact her through FaceBook to find out the details on joining these meetings.
If you, or someone you know, need support, please contact us at 317-477-8483 and we will get you connected with a Recovery Coach leader. If it is an emergency, call the Director, Linda Ostewig, at 317-525-7791.
TO OUR DONORS
With the schools being closed and The Landing Place just now reopening, this has put limits on the access to safe adults and spaces for our students. We know that there are individuals all around us that are in unsafe homes with no opportunity to disclose or talk about what is happening. Your support allows us to continue to offer no fee connections to provide them with the love, hope, resources, and coping skills they may need during this pandemic. We have had to cancel our annual Fairway to Freedom fundraising golf event for everyone’s safety. If you planned to attend this event or just have a heart for our program, we are asking if you will consider making a gift to support us so we can continue to provide the necessary services needed in the recovery community. You may donate through our website www.thelandingplacehc.com or by mail to the above address.
Thank You from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support.
UPDATE RESPONSE TO COVID-19
With the growing concern over COVID-19 and the procedures put in place for all of our health and wellbeing, The Landing Place and The Bridge has decided to extend their closure until May 1, 2020 following the recommendation from our board, as well as from our government officials.
We wanted to make all involved with these programs aware that we are continuing to provide recovery care. Although it may look different then our normal programs, it is still proving to be very productive. Our Worship Leader Kara Cole (Ostewig) is going live every Wednesday at 6:00pm on her FaceBook page – Kara Cole. She will be singing worship songs, as well as providing encouraging words and small teachings on the recovery principals. Our Recovery Coach Leaders are staying in contact with their group members through technology including holding small group meetings through ZOOM. This is extremely important to keep them connected not only with us, but with their peer support groups as well. Everyone in recovery needs their support team to walk this journey with them and this is what The Landing Place provides – the love of family. We are extremely proud of all of them for choosing to participate and continuing to put their recovery first even in these times of uncertainty.
If you, or someone you know, need support, please contact us at 317-477-8483 and we will get you connected with a Recovery Coach leader. If it is an emergency, call the Director, Linda Ostewig, 317-525-7791.
The Landing Place would also like to address the donors; Thank You from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support. We know that this is trying times for everyone and we truly appreciate your faithfulness. Your generosity is what is enabling us to continue to keep our doors open, discover new ways of connection, and to be able to stay on the forefront of this battle of addiction.
Please continue to be in prayer for our programs, students, participants, leaders and our country. As we will continue to pray for all of you as well. Stay safe and contact us for anything you may need.
RESPONSE TO COVID-19
I come with a heavy heart this afternoon with the given increased threat that COVID-19 poses to our global community, and out of an abundance of caution, The Landing Place and The Bridge will be closed for group meetings as of 03/16/2020 through 04/15/2020 upon recommendation from our board, as well as restrictions put in place from our government officials.
Although this is a difficult decision it is obviously a necessary one. We want recovery to stay on the forefront of our recoverees. Especially in these times of uncertainty, we want to be here for those in need. If you attend these meetings, then please continue to reach out to your leaders if you are struggling in any area. With today’s technology, our recovery coaches are available through many avenues other than face to face contact. IF YOU NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE, YOU CAN CALL THE OFFICE AND STAFF WILL BE CHECKING AND RETURNING CALLS (317-477-8483). IF IT IS AN EMERGENCY, CALL THE DIRECTOR, LINDA OSTEWIG, 317-525-7791.
If you are a leader of The Landing Place or The Bridge, please continue to reach out to your group members and check on them daily. The Landing Place and The Bridge have never been just a "one-night program”, although the majority is a "one" night physical interaction meeting. I know the participants will miss this and their safe place and sense of community they feel here, so it is our obligation to stay connected with them.
My heart is overwhelmed to do this and saddened that after 6 years we have only closed 2 weeks out of each year to now having to close for 30 days. This could seem like a lifetime for a hurting student or adult struggling in any area of their life. I do believe God is going to bring good from it. I know He will. This is an unprecedented time for our country, and we wish to be here for support in any way possible. We will keep you informed if additional time of closure is needed or if reopening can happen sooner.
Please be in prayer, stay safe and contact us for anything you may need.
The Landing's website was made possible with generous donations from Leadership Hancock County and NineStar Connect.
Help The Landing Place show our teens and their families that there is life after addiction. Your donation will help us provide education, resources, treatment and a safe place to be real.
